Theatre and Performance Studies Post-Doctoral Fellowship

The School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies invites candidates to apply for a postdoctoral position for the academic year 2016-2017. Applicants must propose a rigorous research agenda – preference given to applicants with experience in any of the following areas: digital humanities, musical theatre, African American theatre, political theatre, and practice as research, but other areas will also be considered. The successful candidate will teach two undergraduate courses, with the additional option of offering a graduate seminar in the candidate’s area of specialization. They will also contribute to the intellectual life of the School by mentoring students, participating in visiting scholar programs, and serving on committees concerned with curriculum.
The School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies (TDPS) represents an exciting, collaborative endeavor. The School offers separate BA programs in Theatre and Dance; MFA programs in Dance and Design; and MA and PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies. The School currently has approximately 275 undergraduate and 75 graduate students enrolled. The School is affiliated with a number of interdisciplinary programs at the University of Maryland, including the Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities, the David C. Driskell Center for the Study of the Visual Arts and Culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora, the Arts and Humanities Center for Synergy, the Center for the History of the New America, the Latin American Studies Center, and the Center for East Asian Studies.
Qualifications: PhD in Theatre or Performance Studies with the degree conferral date no later than June 1, 2016.
Starting date: August 22, 2016
