The Routledge Award, sponsored by Routledge, an imprint of Taylor and Francis, embodies a commitment to global scholarship and the advancement of research excellence at the postgraduate level. Routledge, known for its authoritative coverage across traditional and emerging fields, reaches around the globe, publishing pioneering achievements in science and technology to empower professionals and students alike with the resources necessary for further advancement. In alignment with Routledge’s dedication to reference-led content in specialist subject areas, the Routledge Award seeks to recognize outstanding research presented within the academic program of the Performance Studies international (PSi) conference. Through this award, Routledge and PSi continue to uphold their shared commitment to fostering innovation, scholarly inquiry, and interdisciplinary collaboration in the pursuit of academic excellence and societal impact.
Who can apply?
The Routledge Award, generously sponsored by Routledge, is designed to honor research excellence among postgraduate students. Eligible applicants must be graduate students presenting their research findings at the PSi conference. We welcome scholars from various academic disciplines within the humanities and social sciences to apply for this prestigious award.
Selection Criteria
To qualify for consideration, applicants’ research presentations should meet the following criteria:
- Originality of research topic and methodological approach.
- Contribution to advancing knowledge within the field.
- Topicality and relevance of research, whether politically, socially, philosophically, or otherwise.
- Utilization of original or experimental presentation formats, and the significance of such innovations.
- Consistency demonstrated in the research topic, method, and presentation format.
- Fluency in presentation delivery and/or a demonstrated commitment to engaging with the audience.
Only applicants who have already had their proposal for a presentation accepted by the organizers of the current PSi conference are eligible to receive the award.

How to apply?
The application for the Routledge Award consists of:
- 1-page CV
- Cover letter
- 500-word abstract that was submitted to the conference committee
- Full paper presentation that will be presented at the conference
- The contact details of two referees
- Evidence of acceptance to the current PSi #30 conference

When to apply?
The 2025 deadline for applications is: December 4, 2025.
What does this award consist of?
The Routledge Award includes:
- £150 worth of Routledge books
- A one-year subscription membership to Routledge Performance Research online
When will I know the result of my application?
Once a decision has been reached, the recipient will be notified directly in advance of the conference. We expect this to happen by mid June.
What happens if I win?
If you win the Routledge Award, you will be notified via email with further instructions on how to receive the award.
