ABOUT THE EVENT

Global Arts Pact Town Hall 1: 'Censorship'

‘Censorship’ is direct and indirect censorship of performance by institutions and governments – where performance is theatre, dance, street theatre, circus, comedy, etc. etc. in classrooms, curricula, as well as performance venues; censorship may take place in educational spaces like classrooms, in resource allocation, artistic presentations, and other locations.

Global Arts Pact Town Hall 2: 'From Globalization to Hypernationalism’

The discussion will explore the theoretical claim that Capitalism is shifting from globalization to sovereignty / hyper nationalism and a new world order, becoming the driver of geo-political change. How are these changes affecting our situation in the arts and humanities? This is also an opportunity to share examples of successful resistance tactics in the past and strategies for opposing this change in the future from our performance perspectives.

Global Arts Pact Town Hall 3: 'From Globalization to Hypernationalism’

Control of institutions that produce and preserve knowledge and cultural memory through such mechanisms as archives, libraries, statues, museums, memorials, etc., by means of political control exercised by cuts to budgets, closing exhibits, dismantling displays, removing statues, cuts to research opportunities etc.
