ABOUT
During the encounter, the Brazilian artist Eleonora Fabião will introduce “we here, between sky and earth”, a work commissioned by the 34th São Paulo Biennial (2021) that involved 27 public institutions linked with health, education, culture, and legislation located 5 km around the biennial pavilion. Performance art and performance studies are practiced as modes of proliferation in a necropolitical context. The work is to subvert the logic of violence and affirm difference without separability by articulating aesthetical, social, and spiritual matters.
Eleonora Fabião is a Brazilian action artist and performance theorist. She has been performing, lecturing, teaching and publishing internationally. Things That Must Be Done Series (Performa Biennial, NY 2015) is the title of a work and, also, a way of referring to her artistic practice. Associate Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, School of Communication, she holds a PhD and an MA in Performance Studies (NYU) and an MA in Social History of Culture (PUC-Rio). Fabião is Researcher Level-2 of the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development since 2019 (CNPq).

Durante o encontro, a artista Eleonora Fabião irá comentar “nós aqui, entre o céu e a terra”, um trabalho realizado na 34th Bienal de São Paulo (2021) que envolveu 27 instituições públicas ligadas à saúde, educação, cultura e legislação localizadas em torno no pavilhão da bienal. Performance art e estudos da performance são praticados como como modos de proliferação em um contexto necropolítico. O trabalho é para subverter a lógica da violência e afirmar a diferença sem separatibilidade, articulando questões estéticas, sociais e espirituais. Things That Must Be Done Series (Performa Biennial, NY 2015) é o título de trabalho e, também, uma forma de se referir a sua prática artística. Professora associada da Escola de Comunicação da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, ela fez doutorado e mestrado em Performance Studies (NYU) e um mestrado em História Social da Cultura (PUC-Rio). Fabião é pesquisadora PQ2 do CNPQ desde 2019.
