Dear Colleagues and Members of PSi,
I wanted to draw your attention to a conference on “Arts and Public Sector Services” being held in Rio on Tuesday, August 14 at the Museum of Modern Art and hosted by the Rio NGO Instituto República. International and local artists and public-sector officials from Rio will join together for a one-day conference investigating how artists can work with public-sector services to solve problems, create spaces for policy deliberation, build communities, and participate in political decision-making. Participating artists include Mierle Laderman Ukeles, Berna Reale, Julian Boal, Rebecca Rad of The Lost Collective, and Stefan Kaegi of Rimini Protokoll. Two artists currently embedded in Rio public departments — Tatiana Altberg and Cadu — will also discuss their experiences.
The agenda for the conference can be found here:  <https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UgTHqUmY5ezUYd3yGx388YY4GszDRqVy/view>. A description of Instituto República’s work is here: <http://republica.org/instituto-republica-eng/>. For those interested, an archive of the conference proceedings will also be found later on the República website.
Best wishes, Ehren
